Move my mind.
SUBSIDY seems to be the current issue in the country today. People fear and run about when government plan to remove the subsidy. People queue up for petrol when they have to pay the full price the following day as if they will not need any petrol after that. People rush to stock up sugars/rice/ dairy product when the they media announce the raise. Does this add burdens to the citizens? Or help the citizen to think and spend wisely?
First and foremost, my removing the subsidy means the increase in product pricing. This will however not eventually but immediate increase in food pricing for hawker centre.
~Small thought~
20 cent increase in sugar triggered 20 cent increase for a loaf of bread. – Do we use 1kg of sugar to make a loaf of bread? Well, I don’t bake.
20 cent increase in sugar pricing also triggered 20cent increase in chendol. – 2 scoop of melaka sugar = 1 kg of sugar?
Roti canai price increase because petrol increase.. can anybody explain?
Secondly, by increasing the petrol pricing causes the cost of public transport to increase but does that means improvement of services? NO! Increase does not comes with service. It is just to cover.
When the media announce the extra cost, the reason is always to improve the system. Well, results are not very impressive. Not very pedestrian and disable friendly besides the main city area. People who do not walk will not understand the issue of being splash wet to work, fell into the drain due to lost cover (stolen by some idiot), fell into a hole due to poor road condition, hit by a car due to drivers who forget what they learn, robbed by motorist, raped, feeling under the hot sun and many more.
Here, I picked this up from someone’s opinion
“Those who can afford to buy cars or motorcycles can surely afford the price of petrol for their vehicles.
If they cannot afford it, then use public transport or car pool with neighbours or friends. There will be fewer cars and motorcycles on the road, thus less traffic jam.” (The Star opinion column, Yuni Abdullah, Kuala Lumpur)
IF life is as simple as words can describe then I think this world would be a perfect place.
Use public transport – If all would just take taxi. WHoala! No parking problem! But traffic jam will still be there! And the cost of taxi is very expensive these days! What about bus? How efficient can it be? Are they punctual? Frequency? Reasonable? Sufficient? Capacity? Are they safe? Are they clean? Is there law/ rules and regulation enforced? I have friends who lost their phones and passports in train and friends who lost their purse in Bus. Up to you to decide.
Carpool – City life can be pretty unpredictable. The amount of workaholics are increasing as time flies. Unless you have fixed working hour say, 9am to 5pm? How many of us have such privilege? People finish work at different time, even friends in the same office finish at different time. People don’t run errant during working hours/ take extra long lunch/tea break like some privilege workers to do some personal things. What about sales person? They don’t meet same customer and they don’t meet customer at the same place/ same time. So how does that work? Drop me in LRT then i’ll take a train there? If it is possible then it is great. If not? too bad..
The deal is that sometimes people are forced to get a car/ motorbike so that they are not handicap. Face the reality that our public transport are still far from better. It will be great if you are living around the city. But what about those away from the city?
And to certain people, expenses increases faster than increment. Saving shrinks faster than the incoming.
Truthfully, it is not about the funding, it is more about management and enforcement. People take things for granted when there is a written law without enforcement and mismanagement. A change must come with a proper and on-going plan which will help to move the country to a better phase in the future. Not the hot hot chicken shit plan (hangat hangat tahi ayam). But then, action is not as simple as words.
~Statement above does not direct to anybody specifically, not meant for insulting, neither siding any party. Just a little dude trying to survive and earn like everybody else. I would love to apologise if I accidentally hit a sensitive spot.~
